Licensed Optician - New York City

New York City, NY

Full-time – Based in NYC
Start date: September 2025
Compensation: $25–$35 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Who We Are

Boring? Expensive? Dull? That’s what eyewear used to be.
Jimmy Fairly was born in Paris in 2010 to challenge the status quo: high-quality, stylish glasses at fair prices—with a mission to give back.

Fast forward to today, Jimmy Fairly has over 160 stores across Europe and the UK. We design new collections every six weeks and offer a seamless, customer-first experience—from frame styling to eye exams to after-care. And we’re just getting started.

For every pair of glasses sold, we donate one to someone in need through our long-standing partnership with Restoring Vision.

Our very first U.S. store opens in New York City in September 2025, and we’re looking for a passionate Licensed Optician to join the adventure!

The Role

As a Licensed Optician, you're not just the optical expert—you're also a key sales advisor. You'll help customers find their perfect style and ensure they walk out with glasses that look amazing and feel even better.

From advising on lenses to closing a sale, you’ll be a brand ambassador and a trusted guide throughout the entire customer journey.

You’ll also train and support the store team on optical know-how and help bring our unique customer experience to life.

Your Mission

Customer Experience & Sales

  • Greet, engage, and guide customers with warmth and energy—make everyone feel seen and styled.
  • Use your optical knowledge to help clients choose the best lenses based on their lifestyle, prescription, and preferences.
  • Style frames with confidence and attention to detail, while embracing our Selling Ceremony.
  • Build strong relationships and loyalty through great service, expert advice, and thoughtful follow-up.

Optical Expertise

  • Interpret prescriptions and provide tailored recommendations for lens materials, coatings, and treatments.
  • Perform fittings, adjustments, and minor repairs to ensure the perfect fit and function.
  • Process lens orders, inspect completed eyewear, and manage collections with care.

Operations & Training

  • Support inventory management, deliveries, and visual merchandising.
  • Maintain store standards and help with daily operations (POS, payments, stockroom).
  • Provide ongoing training to the retail team on optical knowledge and best practices.

What We’re Looking For

  • A current New York State Licensed Optician (required).
  • A love for eyewear, people, and great style.
  • Experience in optical retail with strong lens and product knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • A team player who’s proactive, organized, and solution-oriented.
  • A positive mindset and natural enthusiasm for sales.
  • Comfortable with tech tools and new systems.
  • Availability to work Saturdays.
